Welcome to Project Responder, Part II

Project Responder originally started out with the goal of building a big, head turning, monster truck, the likes of which had never been done before. The project began in the spring of 2000 and took six years to complete working nights and weekends. The result ended up being a fully functional fire/rescue vehicle with 12″ of lift, 40″ tires, a 460 (bored out to 474) under the hood and 200 gallons of water in the bed mounted skid unit. Since then, a lot has transpired. After a few years, the oil pan ended up developing a leak at the rear main. The only way to correct it was to either remove the engine or remove the transmission. However, after playing ‘whack a mole’ during this time, the motivation to undertake another large ‘fix’ was gone. The truck languished in our shop for the next eight years.

Finally, in 2017, we decided it was time. This is Project Responder, Part II – Resurrection. The goal now is to create a powerful and reliable workhorse that stands alone. We have the technology. We can rebuild her and make her bigger and better than before (cue the music). The upgrades are many, from converting to fuel injection with Holley’s Sniper EFI, upgrading from the C6 to an E4OD, revert to a manual shift transfer case, update almost all of the LED lighting and finally, to finish the driveline parking brake which is still yet incomplete.

So join us for this new chapter, we promise you won’t be disappointed.
