8th Annual O'Reilly Auto Parts 4-Wheel Jamboree - 4/30/2005

8th Annual O'Reilly Auto Parts 4-Wheel Jamboree Nationals. Ozark Empire Fairgrounds in Springfield, MO.

The show was a lot of fun.  We had Project Responder parked near the main stage during most of the show, when we were not 'cruzin' around the show grounds with the rest of the cool trucks that were there.

It rained all day Friday and we got into Springfield just after six o'clock.  It was too late to get our registration packet so we headed for the motel.  Luckily the rain had finally stopped and we were able to take the truck to a diy car wash and get the road grime off of the truck.  There were a couple of minor mechanical and electrical issues we had to deal with.  First, we thought we might have a bad U-joint because of a horrible sound emanating from the driveshaft.  After some inspection, we found that the transfer case was low on oil.  After topping off the t-case, the truck was good to go.  The other problem which we did not get resolved was the auxiliary battery would not hold a charge for any great length of time.  So we kept a battery pack jump start kit handy just in case.  Other than that, the show was resounding success.

The spectators heads turned every time we came by.  Of course, it probably helped that we had all of our emergency lights flashing and the Q-siren wound up.  The kids really went nuts.  After all, we had the only fire truck there.  A great number of firefighters from all over came by to let us know how much they liked the truck and we really appreciated all of the nice comments.  Other than being too darn cold on Sunday, we had a really great time and we're looking forward to the Jamboree in Indiana later this year.

Heads were turning all day as spectators walked by doing double takes when they saw our truck.
