We've spent a lot of time and effort (not to mention money) making our truck to make it stand out. To that end, we dredded the thought of driving down the road and filling the grille & radiator with bugs and other debris. Fortunately for us, Lund offers the solution to this problem. It's called the "Screen Front". A similar product called the "Cold Front" does the same but also blocks the cold air in the wintertime.
What we found was that during normal operation, the "screen front" product ended up blocking too much air flow over the radiator and therefore the engine would come close to overheating on the highway. So what we've decided to do because we really like the way they make the truck look is to use them when the truck is on static display at shows and events. This way we can cover up any bugs and grit caught up in the radiator so the truck will look sharp, but then we can pop them out for driving.
In the winter time since we're not yet that far into the year, it will remain to be seen whether or not we will be able to leave the "cold front" pieces in the grille or if they will also be for show only. Either way, it's nice to have the means to be able to keep the truck looking show ready even after driving a thousand miles to get there.
